Additional Learning Support Assistant

Bolton College is looking to appoint experienced and dedicated Additional Learning Support Assistants to join our team.

Ideally, you will have:

  • GCSE English and Maths qualifications or equivalent.
  • Evidence of job-related training.
  • Experience of supporting learners with disabilities, learning difficulties and social, emotional and mental well-being issues with their further education studies.
  • Understanding of the needs of learners with disabilities, learning difficulties and social, emotional and mental well-being issues and strategies for differentiating support.
  • Knowledge of IT and office suites e.g., Word.

Day-to-day you will be responsible for:

  • To support students’ needs to ensure equitable access to all College programmes by all students, whilst maintaining high expectations.
  • Support students’ organisational skills
  • To focus the student on the instructions and meaning of the activity and to ensure the student understands the tasks in hand.
  • To promote confidence, motivate and provide guidance and encouragement in whatever activities they are undertaking.
  • To encourage the student to integrate into the learning group.
  • To ensure students are up to date with their work and liaise with the tutors to identify gaps and assist in getting the student to meet targets
  • To collaborate with internal professionals to contribute to smooth progressions and transitions.

We currently offer a permanent contract of up to 25 hours per week working on a term time only basis, but you would probably have the opportunity to extend these hours on a casual basis, so flexibility is important.

As an individual you will be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk, and will therefore be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
